Hackgregator – logo / icon
The Hackgregator icon is the result of two facts. A: the curiosity to try out the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines specifically the section for App Icons, and B: finding a fitting project that still missed a proper logo and application icon.
The chosen approach here was to take the visual elements of Hacker News and work with them: white initial letter and white border over plain orange surface…
…and combine them with the GNOME guides including things like color palette, border thickness, rules about perspective, lighting direction and application of gradients.
The result is a logo that also works as an icon, perfectly fitting the general GNOME look.
